The cruise ship Arvia operated by Carnival P&O Cruises has made its first call at the Port of Valencia. Francesca Antonelli, head of Marketing and Cruises of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) have been in charge of delivering the traditional socarrat -the Valencian terracotta tile designed with maritime motifs that Valenciaport delivers to the ships that dock for the first time in its facilities- to the captain of the ship Robert Carmy. The event was also attended by Isabel Esparza from the Operations Department of the shipping company Roca Monzó.

The city of Valencia is a medium-sized destination for the sector that offers a wide range of activities. The PAV is working with the Diputación de València and Visit València to diversify the tourist offer offered by the València destination for cruise passengers with sustainable experiences in municipalities of the province, beyond the Cap i Casal. The aim is to increase the tourist offer of cruise ships that call at the city of Valencia and, thus, derive flow of visitors to other areas and sites in the province.

The Arvia cruise ship, built in December 2022, is the second ship of the Excel class of P&O Cruises powered by Liquefied Natural Gas and marks the new trend in green cruise ships. With a length of 345 meters, it has a capacity for more than 5,000 passengers and a crew of 1,700. Arvia, coming from A Coruña, will continue after visiting Valencia, its route to Marseille.
