The General Assembly reviewed the intense activity carried out around the Port of Valencia

València, June 22nd, 2020.- Last Wednesday the General Assembly of Apotem – Puerto Solidario València reviewed all the intense activity that has taken place in the last few months. As well as approving the 2019 accounts, the Assembly showed its support for the line of work being carried out through the efforts of all the members of this association, made up of individuals and companies from the Valencian port sector. The Assembly coincided in highlighting how especially intense these months have been, in which Aportem’s actions have multiplied in the face of the crisis we are experiencing. It was also pointed out that from September onwards it is expected that requests for help will increase, and with them the added effort that the Association will have to make.

The 2019 accounts approved by the Assembly establish an income of 38,000 euros, which becomes collaboration and actions with a multiplied value, as it does not have “transformation costs”, as everything that is contributed goes to the final recipients, thanks to the fact that Aportem members put in their personal effort and resources at zero cost. This income comes mainly from Propeller Valencia, through the Charity Dinner it organises every year; from members’ fees and contributions from individuals, companies and institutions in the sector. Another part is obtained in different events (Pas Ras, Paella Competition, etc.)

The previous week, the Board of Directors had approved new actions to support different institutions in the Port of Valencia. These actions had also been submitted to the criterion of the Actions Committee, which is responsible for a first prior analysis of the collaborations requested from Aportem. Thus, the Board and the Assembly agreed to approve the purchase of sports material and clothing for the Atlético Nazaret football school. It was also approved to put a nine-seater bus, with its corresponding drivers, at the disposal of the Ark of Nazaret for a month, so that the children served by this solidarity institution would not be left without summer school.  These recent actions add to the intense activity that Aportem has carried out since the state of alarm was decreed. The association’s calculations indicate that almost 300 families in the districts of the Maritime District have already been helped in this health and economic crisis to have access to food and hygiene products.

The Assembly also approved the collaboration agreement signed with Cobertura Solidaria, an initiative by which clients of Integral Risk Control will be able to choose an organisation to which they can send the discount offered by that firm. This agreement makes it possible for Aportem to be one of the firms eligible to receive this collaboration. Finally, it was approved, as it was done last year, to make the number 44,153 of the Christmas lottery available to the port sector in general and to Aportem partners in particular. La Brujita Generosa, at number 173 of Avenida del Puerto, has reserved this number and will give a percentage of the sales to Aportem, without any surcharge for companies and individuals who buy this number.

Aportem – Puerto Solidario Valencia, is made up of associations, institutions, companies and individuals linked to the Valencian port logistics sector. Its work is focused above all on the environment of the Port of Valencia, with special attention to children at risk of social exclusion.
