Valenciaport received last Friday the visit of the representative of Oaxaca to the Federal Government of Mexico, Vicente Mendoza with his partner, Luisa Ribó.

The meeting, which was attended by Manuel Guerra, deputy director of infrastructure planning and management of the Port Authority of Valencia, and Miguel Garín, director of the international development of the Valenciaport Foundation, the objective has been to know the experience of the PAV in the field of port long-term planning. The visit is part of the interest of the Mexican country in promoting the project of Special Economic Areas of Mexico that aims at the creation of an industrial and logistic corridor that communicates the enclosures located in the Pacific Ocean with those of the Atlantic Ocean.

During the meeting, Manuel Guerra has transferred the competitive advantages of Valenciaport for the transport of goods between Spain and the American continent. Miguel Garín also explained the potential of the Valenciaport Foundation for the development of R + D + i projects for the Valencian port cluster.

Traffic with Mexico

At the end of November, Valenciaport had channeled 837,479 tonnes of goods with Mexico. Of these, 48.79% went to export, 16.30% came from imports and the remaining 34.91% were goods in transit. With regard to container traffic, Mexico has been the origin / destination of 58,025 TEUs handled by Valenciaport until November. Specifically, 27,668 TEUs were exported, representing 47.68% of the total containers handled; 11,418 TEUs were imported (19.68%) and 18,939 TEUs were moved under transit (32.64%).

By ports, the movements with the enclosures of Veracruz stand out, that monopolizes about the half of the goods channeled with the Mexican country from Valenciaport; Altamira and Manzanillo. There have also been registered goods with origin / destination with the ports of Mazatlan, Acapulco, Lazaro Cardenas, Progreso, Ensenada, Guaymas and Puerto Morelos.
