• The old lighthouse will be moved from its current location – which is remote and out of reach of the public – to a new, fully accessible site in the Marina de València area.
  • Its relocation will help restore and enhance, preserve, and promote the dissemination of the historical heritage.
  • The planned intervention involves its dismantling, recovery, and reinstatement using a technical solution designed to preserve its characteristic features.
  • In addition, during the meeting, the City Council informed the participants of the recently approved resolution of the Local Government Board regarding the future public use of the Veles e Vents building.

Valencia, 15 July 2026 – The Inter-administrative Body for Cooperation and Management of the Marina, comprising equal numbers of representatives from Valencia City Council and the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), has agreed on a new location for the former Port of Valencia Lighthouse, which will make it fully accessible from the city’s marina.

The meeting of this body took place today at Valencia City Hall and was attended by the Councillor for Major Projects, José Marí Olano; the Third Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Human and Technical Resources, Heritage, Community Engagement and the Sub-district, Julia Climent; the Municipal Secretary, Manuel Latorre; the President of the APV, Mar Chao, and the Secretary-General of Valenciaport, Jorge Herrero.

Among the issues discussed was the new location in the Marina for the former Valencia Lighthouse, which will soon be moved from its current site – which is remote and out of reach of the public – to a new, fully accessible location in the Marina de València area, on the access channel, opposite the Veles e Vents building, with the agreement of the concessionaire of the nautical and sports facilities, as it falls within the scope of their concession.

The Port Authority considers it both an opportunity and a necessity to relocate the lighthouse from its current site to a new location that is accessible to the public. Following the completion of the Northern Expansion of the Port of Valencia in 2012, the lighthouse was left in a position where it could no longer fulfil its function as a navigational aid. As a result, it was permanently decommissioned in June 2015, and a new lighthouse was installed to replace it.

Its location in an area open to the public will help enhance the value of an iconic landmark with great social significance in the history of the Port of Valencia and the city’s Maritime Districts, projecting it into the future as a symbol fully integrated into Valencia’s waterfront and strengthening the relationship between the port and the public.

Another of the matters discussed at the meeting concerned the Veles e Vents building. During the meeting, the City Council informed the participants of the recently approved resolution of the Local Government Board regarding the building’s future public use.
