València, 13 de noviembre de 2025 – Valenciaport brings the exhibition “Consciència en verd” (Green Awareness) to the Sala Tossal at the International Centre of the University of Valencia in Gandia. This exhibition combines art, humour and irony to raise awareness about caring for the planet. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge until 11 January 2026.
After passing through the Clock Building at the Port of Valencia and enjoying success at the Mario Monreal Cultural Centre in Sagunto, “Consciència en verd” now comes to Gandia with the aim of bringing graphic humour and environmental awareness to all audiences.
The opening ceremony was attended by Balbina Sendra, Councillor for Culture, Festivals, Tourism and Libraries at Gandia City Council; Marta Villalonga, Chief of Staff to the President of the Port Authority of Valencia; and Ester Medán, curator of the exhibition.
Balbina Sendra highlighted the ongoing work on sustainability and the environment being carried out in Gandia and the close collaboration with the APV. In the case of this exhibition, she emphasised the importance of reaching young people in an educational way.
Laughing and reflecting at the same time
“Consciència en verd” brings together a selection of cartoons featuring Mafalda, the iconic character created by Quino, along with works by other national and international cartoonists and humorists. Marta Villalonga explained that “each work seeks to surprise and provoke a smile, but also invites us to reflect on how we relate to the planet”. For her part, Ester Medán added that “humour is capable of conveying complex ideas in a simple and accessible way. “Consciència en verd” shows that reflecting on the planet can be fun and accessible to everyone”.
