The Port Authority of Valencia participates in the annual FRUIT LOGISTICS event that is celebrated until tomorrow, February 10th in Berlin.

The presence in this fair, which is part of the actions to promote fruit and vegetable trade in the ports managed by the PAV (Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía), will allow strengthening contacts with the main logistics operators in Europe and around the world for this type of goods.

According to PAV data, at the end of 2016, the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía handled 648,099 tonnes of fruits, vegetables and legumes, 58.20% of which were destined for export. 93.56% of the handled goods were transported in containers and the rest, as conventional general cargo.

By goods they stand out the dried or fresh citrus fruits that, with 107,000 tonnes, represent 16.48% of the total; onions, shallots, garlic, leeks and vegetables which, with 103,000 tonnes, account for 15.87% of total handled goods; and the nuts that, with 94,000 tonnes, represent 14.45% of the total.

The first five destination countries for this type of goods from Valenciaport are Brazil, with 56,190 tonnes; Arab Emirates, with 45,643 tonnes; Saudi Arabia, with 38,013 tonnes; Algeria, with 30,832 tonnes; and Canada, with 29,867 tonnes. With regard to countries of origin by this type of goods, the United States stands out with 98,418 tonnes; China, with 15,811 tonnes, India, with 13,873 tonnes; Canada, with 12,698 tonnes; and Chile with 11,756 tonnes.

PAV will show in Fruit Logistic its extensive connectivity with more than 1,000 ports on five continents, its privileged geostrategic situation, its facilities with 2,146 reefer connections and refrigerated warehouses as well as the quality of its service referenced through the Guarantee Mark.
