• The Port Authority of València (PAV) celebrates International Women’s Day with an exhibition – which will remain open to the public free of charge until 9 March from 11:00 to 19:00 hours – and which focuses on the differential value provided by women in leadership positions
  • In parallel to the exhibition, the PAV has organised a round table discussion on Thursday 6 March at 5 p.m. on ‘The Incorporation of Women in Transport, a Shared Challenge’ with the participation of women in positions of responsibility within the sector

València, 3 March 2025.- Valenciaport pays tribute to the female references of the port sector on the occasion of the International Women’s Day and opens to the public a new exhibition in the Clock Building that makes visible the women who have managed to get to the top of the institutions and companies for which they work ‘breaking glass ceilings. The exhibition will remain open to the public free of charge until 9 March from 11:00 to 19:00 in the exhibition area located in the lower part of the building.

The exhibition consists of a series of panels that talk about the invisible barriers that hinder women’s access to positions of responsibility. This exhibition, organised by the Port Authority of València, as well as addressing the challenges facing women in the sector, puts figures on the representation of women in the Spanish port system, giving a voice to those women who have managed to reach positions of responsibility in the sector and making their careers visible: Elena (Maritime Captain), Rosana (president of WISTA), or Pilar (corporate director of Puertos del Estado), are some of the protagonists. They are the feminine referents of a sector traditionally led by men.

With the collaboration of Puertos del Estado, one of the panels focuses on the Equality Plan being developed by the public body with the aim of increasing the presence of women and achieving real parity in the institution by 2030. Melyt, a national meeting forum to promote the incorporation of women in logistics and transport, is also one of the collaborating entities featured in one of the panels of the exhibition. Likewise, the Ministry of Equality and WISTA (Women in International Trade and Shipping Association) have collaborated in the project, of which Ester Medán, art historian, is the curator.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the PAV has been organising a commemorative exhibition for many years now, calling for gender equality and the visibility of women in society and in all sectors of work. The organisation of this exhibition means that the commemorative events are organised over the course of a week, giving support and space to claims shared by the institution.

 Women in transport

In parallel to the exhibition and as an added value to the exhibition, Valenciaport has organised a round table discussion for Thursday 6 March at 5 p.m.: ‘The Incorporation of Women in Transport, a Shared Challenge’.

The Clock Building will host a talk that will be moderated by Mar Chao, president of the Port Authority of Valencia and Melyt, and Nuria Lacaci, general secretary of ACE and Melyt.
