València, February 27th, 2023.- The president of the Port Authority of Almeria (APA), Rosario Soto, and the head of the Operations and Conservation Department, Mari Ángeles Guarnido, visited the Port of Valencia, where they held a meeting with the president of Valenciaport, Aurelio Martínez.

The head of the APA highlighted the value of the Valencian installation as a model in terms of sustainability and decarbonisation after her tour of part of the port area, where she saw the location of the hydrogen plant and the Ford and Grimaldi car terminals, where the car silo is located, the upper part of which will house the photovoltaic plant which will cover 11% of the port’s demand for electrical energy.

Among the initiatives in the field of sustainability, the photovoltaic plants to be located in Valencia and Gandia or the two electrical substations for the ships to connect to the grid and switch off engines when they are in the port are worthy of mention. In addition, other projects are the wind power installation for the generation of electrical energy in the Valencian precinct; GREEN C PORTS, whose aim is to reduce the environmental impact of port operations in the cities and control emissions in the main European ports; or the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel together with Baleària.
