The Clock Building will host the exhibition ‘La Comunitat de l’humor. Referents gràfics valencians al port’

190 illustrations by 19 Valencian cartoonists will use their cartoons to encourage reflection on current issues among the citizens who visit the exhibition

The exhibition is free of charge and can be visited until 5 February between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the Clock Building, an icon of cultural and social reference in Valencia

As with every exhibition, the Clock Building is transformed into the “Casal del Port”, a meeting point to encourage a critical spirit, strengthening the link between the port and the city

Humour to close the year. And this can be seen from the 16th of December in the Clock Building of the Port of Valencia, with the exhibition ‘La Comunitat de l’humor. Referents gràfics valencians al port’. On this occasion, it is an exhibition that highlights the work of 19 Valencian graphic humorists through their creations and their critical and scathing vision of current affairs, inviting the public to reflect and think critically.

With this initiative, the Port of Valencia continues with its traditional closing of the year and beginning of the new one with the best humour of recognised cartoonists, at the same time as paying tribute to the Valencian creators who, through their cartoons, give their vision of current affairs and encourage critical thought through their illustrations.

‘La Comunitat de l’humor. Referents gràfics valencians al port’ can be visited free of charge in the Clock Building from 16th December until 5th February between 11:00 and 18:00. The public can enjoy 190 cartoons by the artists Daniella Martí, Diana Raznovich, E. Hormigós, El Gat Invisible, Enrique, Harca, J. Aldeguer, L. Sánchez, Lalo Kubala, Lamber, Malagón, Manel Gimeno, Ortifus, Quique, Salazar, Sebas, Xipell, Yordi and Zo.

This exhibition presents a journey through universal themes of interest to society. These 19 graphic humorists, each with their own identity and concerns, but with a common goal: to give visibility to current problems and debate through humour, and at the same time, to make us reflect as people with a multidirectional view of a reality with different faces that, as a society, should unite us instead of distancing us. And in this role, humour is the perfect tool to decontextualise many of these situations.

As is the house standard for this type of performance, a space has been set up for the youngest visitors with a series of interactive activities, such as characters of the humorists to paint, which will also serve to learn about the work of the creators and the use of graphic humour to encourage critical opinion on current issues. The exhibition is organised by the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) in collaboration with the University of Alcalá de Henares and the Quevedo Institute of the Arts of Humour.

Graphic humorists at the Clock Building

With the exhibition ‘La Comunitat de l’humor. Referents gràfics valencians al port’, the Clock Building is once again transformed into a point of reflection, which enlivens the critical spirit and reflects the concerns of the citizens, strengthening the port-city link which the PAV is committed to and positioning itself as one of the points of reference of the cultural activity of Valencia.

In recent years, this iconic place has developed a wide range of exhibitions which have mainly dealt with themes related to port activity and which have attracted a large number of visitors.

In recent years, the “Casal del Port” (as the Clock Building is also known, due to its openness to the organisation of events and exhibitions) has paid tribute to other leading figures in Spanish graphic humour, with exhibitions by Peridis, Forges, Ortifus and Quino, which have been enjoyed by more than 50,000 visitors.
