The PAV explained some of the initiatives such as the advisory committees or the Special Plan for South Zone 1, which will provide the Natzaret area of the city with new green, tertiary and sports areas
València, October 14th, 2022.- The Deputy Mayor of Vienna and responsible for Innovation, Urban Planning and Mobility, Ulrike Sima, has led a delegation from the city council of the Austrian capital to the facilities of the Port of Valencia. Unlike other visits, on this occasion, those responsible for mobility from Vienna arrived at the Clock Building by bicycle; an emblematic construction of the Port of Valencia, which offered the visitors one of the noblest rooms in the building to hold their work meeting: the hall of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority, where they posed for the family photo in front of the large painting that recalls the importance that the port has historically had and still has for the Valencian capital.
The actions being carried out by the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) in city-port matters were the focus of the meeting. In cultural matters, the Clock Building – where the meeting was held – has become in recent years a reference point for the city-port relationship. In fact, the Viennese delegation toured the exhibition ‘València, Porta al Disseny. Exportació dels nostres productes als segles XIX i XX’ which is currently on display in the emblematic building.
In recent years, the Clock Building has been developing a wide range of exhibitions that have mainly dealt with themes related to port activity and have attracted a large number of visitors. The exhibitions dedicated to graphic humorists such as Quino, Peridis, Forges or Ortifus, are already a reference for the city to end and begin each year. Or the exhibition “Imágenes Imborrables” (Indelible Images), about the view of the Valencian society of the Covid-19 and made thanks to the photographs sent by the citizens. These are some of the free events that the Clock Building has hosted for the enjoyment of València’s citizens and tourists.
Revitalisation of Natzaret
Manuel Guerra, assistant to the presidency of the PAV explained some of the initiatives of the port such as the advisory committees of the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia, bodies chaired by the mayors of each of these cities and integrated in the Delegate Commission of the Council for the Promotion of Territorial Integration with the aim of efficiently favouring the resolution of the issues of each city and reaching a consensus on actions of city-port integration.
They were also informed about projects such as the Special Plan for the South Zone 1, which will provide the Natzaret area of the city with new green spaces, such as the Parque de Desembocadura, tertiary and sports facilities, with the location of the Levante UD sports complex, an action that will boost the economy of the area and the urban and social regeneration of the neighbourhood. This plan is of great importance for the relationship between the city of Valencia and its port, given that it contemplates the dedication for public use of an area of 230,000 square metres of port land equivalent to more than 40 football pitches.
