The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has installed the latest generation anti-pollution barrier which replaces the one installed in 2007.

This equipment allows a daily collect of floating debris from the old riverbed section between the Oceanográfico and Puente de Astilleros in which several city storm sewers converge and reached the riverbed because of wind effect, preventing them from reaching the port or adjacent beaches to the port area of Pinedo and El Saler.

The anti-pollution barrier is part of the monitoring plan for water pollution developed by PAVs Environment Department. Between the objectives of this plan, the most important one is making proper monitoring and waters surveillance, with special sensitivity to the nearest population nuclei.

This PAV effort, which responds to its commitment and respect for the environment, is specified in the surveillance and daily monitoring of its waters, and subsequent removal, thanks to the anti-pollution barrier of floating debris accumulation. Thanks to its coordination with Limpiamar vessel, PAV is making a more efficient and effective debris collection. Removed debris are stored in special containers and subsequently transferred to a debris management plant approved by the competent environment body.
