Valencia, 2026 – The Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has significantly reduced its water consumption. Specifically, the agency’s latest Sustainability Report shows a 33.8% reduction at the ports of Valencia, Sagunto, and Gandia. Total consumption stood at 25,838 m³, compared to 39,047 m³ in 2023.

This data, included in the APV’s 2024 Sustainability Report, refers to water consumed in buildings and for irrigating gardens at port facilities. The change is primarily due to measures implemented during the past fiscal year, which have made it possible to adjust irrigation zones following construction work and improve the network in areas where recurring failures occurred.

These initiatives have helped optimize water use and move toward more efficient resource management within port facilities.

The Port of Valencia leads the decline

By port, the Port of Valencia saw the largest reduction. Water consumption fell to 19,836 m³, compared with 34,755 m³ the previous year. This decrease is the main factor behind the overall decline saw by the APV.

Meanwhile, at the Port of Sagunto, consumption stood at 5,598 m³, while at the Port of Gandía it was 404 m³.
