The PAV announces the next launch of construction and operation sheets of the new cruise terminal in the port of Valencia.

The fair will expose the city’s new tourist offer for cruise passengers and put in value port facilities.

Valencia, September the 4th 2017. – The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) will be present at Seatrade Europe, the most important European trade fair in the cruise sector, which will take place from the 6th to the 8th of September in Hamburg, Germany. The presence of the PAV in this event aims to value the port facilities and the tourism offer of Valencia to professionals from the sector around the world. Francesca Antonelli, marketing manager, present at the fair, will maintain a wide agenda of meetings with managers of shipping companies around the world.

During the fair, the PAV will announce the next approval of the specifications for the construction and operation of the new cruise terminal that will be located in the north extension of the port of Valencia. This infrastructure, whose design will be left open to the needs of the awarded company is expected to be financed by the mixed public-private model and will simultaneously attend two vessels of up to 4,000 passengers, combining the operations of boarding, landing and transit .

Traffic and cruise offer 

At the end of 2016, the port of Valencia received the visit of 403,264 passengers from 181 different scales, a figure that represents a growth of 7.66% with respect to the previous year. By 2017, the Port Authority of Valencia plans to reach 440,000 cruisers and 203 cruise calls, moving towards the target set for 2020: 600,000 passengers and 250 cruise calls.

The port of Valencia has two quays that allow docking of ships up to 300 meters in length and two other docking lines located in the north extension of 430 and 440 meters in length respectively and a draft of 14 meters.

The cruise offer of the city, developed jointly between the Port Authority of Valencia and Valencia Tourism, is wide and very varied. This year, as a novelty, in addition to the traditional routes through the Albufera, the historic center or the City of Arts and Sciences, new routes have been incorporated. Among them stands out, the Religious Art Route, which includes a visit to the Cathedral and other churches such as the recently restored San Nicolás or San Juan del Hospital; the Silk Road to know the historical legacy of this industry in Valencia and the visits to the Silk Market, the recently restored Silk Museum and the Velluters neighborhood; or the Route Valencia and Fallas that allows tourists to enter in the main neuralgic points of these celebrations declared World Heritage.
