València, 21 May 2025 – China and USA lead Valenciaport’s traffics in the first four months of the year. This is reflected in its Statistical Bulletin that details the container traffic with ports around the world with which it has connections, and points to these two countries as the main trading partners of the Valencian docks.
The United States of America continues one more month to occupy the second position in the ranking with 1.98 million tons and 129,724 TEUs. In this sense, the tons exchanged with the North American country from January to April grew by +9.32% and TEUs grew by 6.85%.
On the other hand, in the first four months of the year, 2.77 million tons (+19.81%) and 256,519 TEUs (+27.30%) have been exchanged from Valencian ports with Asian ports. These figures consolidate China as Valenciaport’s main trading partner.
Other countries that have increased their traffics in this period with the three enclosures managed by the Port Authority of València are Algeria with +23.64% tons or Ukraine with +19.42%.
More exports
Also, Valenciaport terminals confirm that the export sector continues to grow. The Valencian docks maintain the positive sign this year and increases in cargo traffic (full containers) leaving Valenciaport to other countries increased by 6.37%. Specifically, as reflected in the Statistical Bulletin of Valenciaport in April, full TEU traffics have increased that month by +6.47%, representing discharges by +22.09% and transits by +0.53% in the cumulative total for the months from January to April.
Overall and in the first two months of the year, companies working with Valenciaport managed through its terminals 26.4 million tons (+0.15%). In containers, the traffics have scored 1.8 million TEU (twenty-foot containers); that is, a growth of +6.55%.
In general, an analysis of the figures of the Bulletin shows growths in the traffics of UTIs (intermodal transport units) +2.27% and the transport of TEUs by rail also grows +5.49% while passenger traffic has increased +1.27% (+0.4 cruise passengers and +1.81% ferry passengers).
By sectors, it shows growth in chemicals (+13.31%), construction materials (+6.16%) and agri-food (+8.27%) while energy (-2%), fertilizers (-4.83%), non-metallic minerals (-1.96) and iron and steel (-12.67%).
