València, 3 October 2023.- The Port Authority of València (PAV) is present at the XXIV edition of Conxemar, the international fair of frozen seafood products held in Vigo and which brings together more than 750 companies including wholesalers, importers, exporters, manufacturers and distributors, among others. The APV attends this event for the third time with its own stand.

The delegation of Valenciaport, headed by Mar Chao, president of the PAV, attends with the purpose of highlighting its high connectivity and facilities for this type of traffic; and support the Association of Importers and Handlers of Fishery and Aquaculture Products (ASIMPORT) and FEDACOVA: the Business Federation of Agri-Food of Valencia. Between them, they group 70% of the total number of companies in a sector that is becoming very important in the port of Valencia due to the opening of markets that makes it possible for the businessmen of the Region.

The reefer sector in recent years has increased its traffic from the docks of Valenciaport. In fact, during 2022, the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia, moved more than 3,000,000 tons of fruit and vegetable products such as fruits, citrus, vegetables, tubers, meat products and fish, among others. China, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Canada, South Korea and Brazil are the main destinations of these products leaving the docks of the Valencian precinct. Imports come from markets such as China, Peru, India, Brazil and Senegal, among others.

Strategic enclave

The Valencian docks have become a strategic enclave for reefer traffic thanks to their 3,250 reefer slots: the CSP Iberian terminal has 1,500 reefer connections, APM has 750 connections for this type of containers while MSC has 576 connections.

In addition to these container terminal infrastructures, there is the Americold Valencia company warehouse, which has 16,000 m2 exclusively for refrigerated product logistics, and another one in the Gandia area. In addition, the Port of Valencia and the Port of Sagunto have a Border Control Post (BCP), the first of them with 17,000 m2, and through the Guarantee Mark, guarantees that the inspection of containers will be agile (in less than 45 minutes).

Likewise, Valenciaport’s high connectivity and its extensive infrastructure have made its docks one of the main logistics platforms for perishable goods traffic. Its connectivity with more than 1,000 ports around the world makes it a key port for this type of traffic in the Mediterranean. Currently, the port of València has a hundred regular services with the five continents for perishable goods traffic.
