• The tiles that leave the Valenciaport facilities reach 359 ports in 149 countries, with destinations as diverse as Australia, the United States, Azerbaijan, Cape Verde and Cambodia, among others

Valencia, 22 September 2025 – The Spanish tile industry finds in the Port of Valencia one of the main gateways for the distribution of its products to different countries. Thus, during 2024, Valenciaport managed export operations for these goods to a total of 359 ports around the world.

The report on ceramic product traffic by the Port Authority of Valencia shows that last year, goods were loaded at ports in 149 countries, involving the movement of 80,624 full containers, which transported more than 2 million tonnes of goods.

Although, most of the operations, a total of 191, are destined for Spanish ports, the US market ranks second in terms of interest for tile exports.

With 182 operations, 290,420 exported tonnes and 12,916 TEUs, traffic concentrates mainly in the ports of New York, Miami and Los Angeles, which receive 6,799 containers, although they also arrive at other more unusual ports such as Honolulu, which received one TEU.

The British market is the second most important market in terms of exports for Valenciaport. During 2024, 68 operations were carried out, within 128,569 tonnes and 4,349 containers, which mainly arrived at the ports of London and Liverpool. In the European market, Italian ports are another of the most important destinations for tiles leaving Valencia, with 64 operations and 76,517 tonnes.

Australia and Brazil among the most popular destinations

Out of the traditional American market and the European destinations, Australia and Brasil are the countries that receive the most ceramic products from Valenciaport. Therefore, during 2024 both countries received 66 shipments from the tile sector, which amounted 27,715 tonnes and 1,1195 TEUs in the case of Australia, and 6,076 tonnes and 378 containers in the case of Brasil.

The Asian Market also has a significant presence, especially in China and Turkey, with 58 and 57 operations respectively, and more than 20,000 tonnes of exports between both destinations. In this geographical area, there are even more singular locations, such as Azerbaijan, Cambodia and Taiwan, where ships carrying containers loaded or trainshipped at Valenciaport have arrived. 

At the African continent Algeria and Morocco account for most of the ports to which tiles shipped from Valencia are delivered, although there are also shipments to more unusual destinations such as Cape Verde, Senegal and Nigeria.

From Sydney to Senegal via Barbados

The tile trade leaving the Port of Valencia extends across the map, with a significant presence in cities such as New York, where a total of 2,681 containers arrived in 2024, and London, with 2,111. The Australian port of Sydney is another destination for tiles from Castellón, with 647 TEUs per year, but there are also other lesser-known destinations, such as Caucedo in the Dominican Republic, where 2,955 containers were exported. Dakar, in Senegal, is another place where a significant number of TEUs arrived, totalling 1,667, but Valenciaport also sent containers to the Bermuda Islands and Haiti, with containers arriving at the ports of Hamilton and Cap Haitien. In Barbados, more than 6,400 kilometres from Valencia, 24 containers of tiles from Castellón were exported last year, and 19 arrived at the port of Nassau in Grand Bahama.
