The complete immersion in the culture and in the world of “Fallas” is already a tourist claim for the multinationals of the tourism of cruises.

The Viking Cruises shipping company, registered in the Port of Valencia since 2015 by Pérez y Cía, offers as a tourist claim to its cruise passengers the experience of approaching the world of “Fallas” through excursions in which the cruise ships make their own “ninots falleros”.

In a clear commitment to Valencia, Viking Cruises has confirmed for this year seven stopovers in the port of Valencia, which is a significant increase since in 2015 it was premiered with a single stop in Valencia. With ships of 228 meters in length and capacity for 900 passengers, the shipping company offers in Valencia to its mainly American passengers, a wide range of excursions that have a great reception. In this sense, Viking Cruises presents as a tourist attraction an immersion in the “fallero” world that goes visiting the city, the workshops of different artists such as Manolo García -entrusted this year of “Falla del Ayuntamiento”- as well as participating in workshops in the ones that the visitors can design, make and take to remember its own “ninots falleros”; an experience that goes beyond the visit to a museum.

In recent years, the result of the joint work between the Port Authority of Valencia and Turismo Valencia with multiple shipping companies, the city of Valencia has become a strong demand for the cruise sector. In this way, the tourist offer to the cruise ships that dock in Valencia also contemplates other activities visits to the historic center with tastings of horchata and tapas, visits to the Oceanogràfic, to l’Albufera with the possibility to participate in a showcooking to learn how to prepare paellas, or routes along the Silk Road in Valencia.

At the end of 2016, the port of Valencia received a visit of 403,264 passengers from 181 different scales, a figure that represents a growth of 7.66% with respect to the previous year. By 2017, the Port Authority of Valencia expects to reach 440,000 cruise passengers and 203 stopovers, improving the target set for 2020: 600,000 passengers and 250 stopovers.

The port of Valencia has two docks that allow the docking of ships of up to 300 meters in length and other three docks located in the area of the northern expansion for those ships that exceed 300 meters in length. All infrastructures have the latest standards in quality of service and safety to the passenger and the ship.
