Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) has held this morning a fire simulacrum in the building which has included rescue maneuvers, evacuation and the transfer to hospital of a wounded.

The exercise, which has been coordinated by the Emergency Control Center of PAV, has had the participation of Port Police, Firemen and Ambulance Port. This simulacrum, which has ended satisfactorily, is part of the annual program of training in Integral Safety and Prevention of Occupational Hazards in PAV.

The simulacrum has begun with the detection of smoke by a precinct worker. Upon activation of Self-Protection Plan, the resources of the Port, Fire Police and the Ambulance Port have mobilized and proceeded to the evacuation of all PAV headquarters staff. During the exercise performance, it has been informed of the absence of an operator for which the intervention of firemen service has been required. Once located the operator, it has proceeded to the rescue, stabilization and evacuation to a hospital. After extinguishing the fire, the disabled Self-Protection Plan has been deactivated with the consequent withdrawal of the mobilized resources and the return of workers to their respective posts.

In the coming days, security officials of PAV will hold a meeting to discuss the development and establish improvement points that will increase the effectiveness in a real situation.
