The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), along with the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, has announced the construction of a Border Inspection Point (BIP), in the Port of Sagunto which it is expected to enter in operation by the middle of 2018.
This infrastructure, which will cost 4 million euros, will give the port of Sagunto a greater competitiveness, allowing expanding the type of goods that reaches the enclosure. So far only plant origin goods have access to the port of Sagunto, so that the installation of the new BIP will also permit controls to animal origin goods. From the new inspection point, the Ministry of Health, Agriculture, Industry and Trade will carry out the sanitary, veterinary and phytosanitary controls on all goods imported from the European Union in order to avoid possible risks for the population.
