​​The Port of Sagunto ended the month of September withtotal traffic of 4,774,366 tonnes, down 3.17% compared to the same period in 2015.

On the up side, container traffic continued to rise with a total of 45,186 TEU (+87.58%) in the nine months up to the end of September. Likewise, car traffic also increased (+0.43%), with a total of 133,203 vehicles being handled.

Containerised general cargo went up by 88.24% to a total of 415,362 tonnes in the first nine months of the year. Meanwhile, conventional general cargo decreased by 8.17% to 1,676,043 tonnes. This decrease was mainly due to poorer steel product traffic, which fell by 10.61% to 1.31 million tonnes, though cars and their parts increased by 0.99% to 242,000 tonnes.

Liquid bulk decreased by 12.18% to a total of 1,734,854 tonnes. This was driven by the poor results of goods such as natural gas which fell by 13.12% to 1.55 million tonnes and chemical products which decreased by 11.07% to 120,000 tonnes.

Solid bulk, with 937,159 tonnes, grew 5.25% compared to the same period in the previous year. Cement and clinker went down by 40.65% to 262,000 tonnes, finished construction materials increased by 3,220.20% to 230.000 tonnes and natural and artificial fertilizers rose by 5.74% to 228,000 tonnes.
