Valencia, 17 October 2025 – Container traffic at Valenciaport remained steady in September: 466,789 (4.5 per cent less than the same month last year); However, looking at port activity for the first nine months of the year, Valenciaport handled 4,287,037 containers (3.6 per cent more), and broadening the view to the last twelve months – a year-on-year perspective – the number of units handled rises to 5.6 million TEUs (A 5.2 per cent more).

The Statistical Office of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV) has recorded that, in terms of tonnes, import and export traffic at the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia exceeded 6.3 million tonnes (-8.05%) in September. This figure rises to more than 60.3 million tonnes (-1.41%) when referring to accumulated traffic between January and September, and exceeds 79.8 million (-1.01%) in year-on-year terms.

September ended with 47,136 vehicles loaded and unloaded, stabilising the figures compared to the previous month, with a slight downward variation of 0.8%. So far this year, 372,224 units have been handled, while the year-on-year figures reach 526,232 vehicles.

China and the United States consolidate their position as the main destinations

An analysis of the figures accumulated by country confirms that China is the international market that exchanges the most goods with Valenciaport, both in terms of tonnes and number of TEUs. So far in 2025, 622,313 containers (+15.19%) and more than 6.6 million tonnes (+8.87%) have been handled with China. The United States also consolidated its position as a preferred destination with 290,458 containers (+7.06%) and more than 4.5 million tonnes (+7.06%). Algeria remains the third largest market in terms of TEUs (240,407 units and +34.9%), while Italy remains ahead of the US market in terms of cargo weight, with over 5 million tonnes.
