
The Clock Building opens its doors to the exhibition ‘La Comunitat de l’humor. Referents gràfics valencians al port’, which can be visited free of charge until 5 February between 11:00 and 18:00.
190 illustrations by 19 Valencian cartoonists will use their cartoons to stimulate reflection on current issues among the citizens who visit the exhibition.
Throughout this year, more than 42,000 people have visited some of the exhibitions held by Valenciaport
Humour to close the year and start 2023 with the best smile and stimulate critical thinking on current issues through the cartoons of 19 Valencian cartoonists. The exhibition ‘La Comunitat de l’humor. Referents gràfics valencians al port’.
In this exhibition, the public can enjoy 190 cartoons by the artists Daniella Martí, Diana Raznovich, E. Hormigós, El Gat Invisible, Enrique, Harca, J. Aldeguer, L. Sánchez, Lalo Kubala, Lamber, Malagón, Manel Gimeno, Ortifus, Quique, Salazar, Sebas, Xipell, Yordi and Zo. The aim is to have a good time, get to know the work of a selection of creators from our Comunitat and encourage reflection among the visitors who come to the ‘Casal del Port’.
The president of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Aurelio Martínez, has encouraged citizens and visitors to Valencia during these dates to “visit this exhibition where they can use the humour and creativity of our cartoonists to develop a critical attitude on universal issues that affect us all in society”. From Valenciaport”, he continued, “in recent years we have made a clear commitment to a city-port model that allows our neighbours to get to know the port activity, but also to bring culture and reflection on current issues closer to them. In fact, this year more than 42,000 people have visited some of the exhibitions in the Clock Building”.
“In this exhibition we have brought together prominent members of the graphic humour of the Valencian Community to show, once again, how humour and critical thinking are an effective tool for the development of society towards a fairer and freer world. They help us to understand our society through the mechanisms of humour”, explained Ester Medán, curator of the exhibition.

In addition, an area has been set up for the youngest visitors with a series of interactive activities, such as characters of the cartoonists to paint, which will also serve to learn about the work of the creators and the use of graphic humour to encourage critical opinion on current issues.
The exhibition is organised by the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) in collaboration with the University of Alcalá de Henares and the Quevedo Institute of the Arts of Humour.
Graphic humorists at the Clock Building
With the exhibition ‘La Comunitat de l’humor. Referents gràfics valencians al port’, the Clock Building is once again transformed into a point of reflection, which enlivens the critical spirit and reflects the concerns of the citizens, strengthening the port-city link which the PAV is committed to and positioning itself as one of the points of reference of the cultural activity of Valencia.
In recent years, this iconic place has developed a wide range of exhibitions which have mainly dealt with themes related to port activity and which have attracted a large number of visitors.
The “Casal del Port” (as the Clock Building is also known, due to its openness to the organisation of events and exhibitions) has paid tribute to other leading figures in Spanish graphic humour, with exhibitions by Peridis, Forges, Ortifus and Quino, which have been enjoyed by more than 50,000 visitors.
