Valenciaport is a key element in the modernisation and growth of both the Valencian and Spanish economies. This can be seen by the levels of employment and production associated with activities in the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía:
Vessel stowage and discharging operations
- Employment: Valenciaport provides direct or indirect employment for over 15,000 people.
- Production: Valenciaport participates, directly or indirectly, in the generation of over 1 billion euros worth of production.
The economic effects of port activities can be divided into three types:
- Direct economic effects, connected with the sectors directly related to port activities.
- Indirect economic effects, resulting from the impact of the ports on the industrial sectors.
- Spin-off economic effects, derived from the investment and purchasing capacities of companies and economic agents related directly to port activities.
The following table shows the economic impact of Valenciaport on the main economic figures:

The above figures show that for every ten jobs related directly to port activities another eight jobs are created along the production and marketing chain.
All these data confirm the central role played by Valenciaport in the economic development of Valencia and Spain.
