-          51% of Spain’s gross domestic product (GDP).

-          Half the working population in Spain.

This area – mainly using Valenciaport for goods transport - has a significant quota of national export/import traffic using the sea route. Specifically for the year 2001:

-          57% of general containerised goods for export by sea had its origin in the hinterland of Valenciaport.

-          36% of maritime imports were destined for the hinterland of Valenciaport.
