The main role of the Port Authority of Valencia is to manage the public domain comprising the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandía by carrying out the following functions:  

-          Establishing future objectives and plans to achieve.

-          Planning the uses of the services areas of Valenciaport ports.

-          Planning and constructing the works required within the framework of approved plans and programmes.

-          Managing general port services and granting authorisations and licenses enabling remaining services to be provided.

-          Granting relative licences and authorisations.

-          Guaranteeing the security of Valenciaport by making it a safe port.

-          Coordinating actions of the various administrative bodies and part owned entities.

-          Approving fees and rates for the different services provided directly by the port.

-          Promoting training within the Port Community and undertaking studies and research projects in fields related to the port sector and the protection of the environment.

-          Managing the commercial and international policies.
