Rafael Aznar Garrigues Chairman of the Valencia Port Authority Dear friend: It is with great satisfaction that I present the promotional area of the new Valenciaport portal: a powerful promotional tool and an instrument for modernising logistics management.   The Valenciaport portal is a key initiative for securing the aims established by the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) in its Strategic Plan 2015 and it includes two different areas. o          A promotional area, addressing the logistics community and society in general, which contains easily accessible items of interest and functions o          A transactional area, addressing companies within the logistics chain, which includes information, commercial and operational services related to goods transportation (at present in process of development). The plan includes the objective of reinforcing the deep sea status and leading intermodal logistics platform nature of the port in the Western Mediterranean.   The Valenciaport portal in order to achieve this objective offers advanced information systems that allow the strengthening of maritime connections (transoceanic connections) and the concentration of import and export goods, by improving efficiency of the port’s logistics management. This initiative, within the framework of the global infostructure strategies of the PAV, will enable our technological leadership in the port sector to be stronger. In this sense the PAV has launched some pioneer initiatives such as: o          E.D.I. systems installation for critical businesses procedures (i.e.: Cargo Manifest and Declaration of Hazardous Goods, vessels calls control or electronic invoicing) o          Communities are being established (i.e. Community Information System – SIC – and the Seal of Quality Guarantee). The portal means, therefore, a new step forward because it integrates all current devices and these are linked with the logistics chains main agents’ technological platforms. New promotional channels and the required infostructures modernising logistic management are then achieved   So I hope you will come straight in and browse through our portal and send us your comments or suggestions.
